The process of finding a symbol is always a deeply inspiring challenge - an act of interpretation, definition, and re-creation. In the case of MAZSIHISZ, this journey took on special significance: we were asked to redefine the emblem of an entire community, one rooted in faith, tradition, and cultural memory. Collaborating with their communication team, we set out to translate complex historical and emotional values into a contemporary visual language. When such a shared exploration succeeds, it enriches both sides - designer and client alike - by turning understanding into creation.

As we immersed ourselves in the world of MAZSIHISZ, we discovered new layers of meaning at every step. Through research, interviews and workshops, we uncovered both collective and personal narratives that shaped the brand’s evolution. Within our design team, these encounters sparked intense dialogue and reflection - discussions on identity, belonging, and renewal - all of which became integral to the creative process.

The greatest challenge lay in addressing the religious, cultural, and historical aspects of the rebranding with the respect and sensitivity they demand. Creating or renewing a faith-related symbol carries both rare privilege and responsibility. The layered meanings required a deeper level of immersion than any conventional corporate design.

Our shared goal was to reimagine the emblem of an ancient, deeply rooted community - Hungarian Jewish community - in a way that bridges generations and resonates with elders, families, and youth alike. Together with the MAZSIHISZ communication team, we developed a new symbol grounded in the timeless values of Jewish culture. Built on enduring spiritual principles, it reflects universal truths that speak to both the community’s present and its sustainable future. Emerging from a faith-driven past, it opens toward the modern world while authentically representing shared values and belonging.

The new identity also had to balance dual functionality: representing MAZSIHISZ both as a respected institution and as an approachable, caring community. This duality - faithfulness to roots combined with forward-thinking adaptability - defines the enduring vitality of the community. The new symbol was designed as a universal emblem of this living continuity.
